You're working for the Whitby tourist board right? :) I love the beach huts image, perfect composition, but the first one is too overpowered with orange lights for my taste. The last one is very calming...

I see what you mean about the orange lights. I think I was around 15 minutes too late for this shot, slightly earlier and the lights wouldn't have dominated?

Cheers

Les

The sky is also quite orange and I think the street lights in the foreground take something away from the sky. But taken earlier the sky would have had less contrast... :) such is life.

The image of the beach huts is fantastic! That lonesome cumulus cloud is positioned perfectly and the colours just zing! It almost looks surreal, like a painting. Absolutely love it!!!!

I love them all. Very nice - although in contrast to the others, the beach huts is actually my least favourite.

Lovely lead-in on the first one and, to me, the lights from the foreground buildings are very pleasing. The only thing I find distracting is the lighting at the upper left portion as it overpowers the rest of the image. If you could tone that down to match the foreground, this would be even better IMO.

Pitty that your 24-105 is so soft in the second one. ;) Wow, that's incredible detail and a very interesting shot.

Third through fifth, great as well. Very clean, simple and well composed. Great colors in 3 and 5.

One question. You mention in many of your posted shots that you used the "timer". Why that versus a remote release?

Hi Robert, the timer on the 1DS MKII can be set at 2 seconds or 10seconds, therefore I prefer using the 2 sec timer rather than a remote release. Does the same job, and split second shutter release timing is not an issue.

Great images Les. Love the lead-in and the orange colours in the first and also the fantastic colours in the third.
Thanks for sharing.

The beach huts get my vote too, but I do like that first shot looking down the hill. The lights may be a bit too bright, but the scene is so interesting.
