EDITED TO REMOVE 2 IMAGES. Sorry folks, didn't know about the limit
I took the opportunity of a trip to the Bay Area last weekend to visit a known location on the Peninsula where there are numerous Burrowing Owls (Athene cunicularia). I got out early in the morning, forgetting about the infamous overcast that would not give me sunlight until the cloud cover burned off later in the morning.
So the first shot was taken about 7:30 AM under a heavy overcast (sunrise was 6:46). The remainder were taken later in the day (after walking about and photographing other birds & critters for a while), pretty much between 9:10 AM and 9:40 AM. All photos were taken with my 400mm f/5.6L, wide open at varying ISO's as the lighting changed. Some of the images were taken using a cheapo Tamron 1.4X which does not show up in the EXIF and allows auto focus. (I can usually tell which images used the 1.4x by the character of the bokeh, but the combination doesn't lose much sharpness) I also used a tripod for all images, and on some I used the 550EX w/Better Beamer for fill-in flash. The EXIF data is all intact. Most are cropped for aspect ratio or minor composition changes. The cropping was not very extensive in any of these however.
I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.

"What are you lookin' at?"
"Why did I get up so early?!?!"
"He went that-away!"
"Is that who I think it is over there?" "I'm not takin' my eye off the funny guy with the camera!"
"I thought I told you to stay down in that hole..."
