I had the 24-70 (just sold it) and didn't think the extra fstop made up for the lack of range. Especially with the IS on the 24-105L adding an extra stop to the lens...when I want to carry around just 1 lens, this one has the range (for my 5D) that is perfect for me. BUT, having said that...tons of people prefer the faster/shorter 24-70.

Maybe the ff makes a big difference to the range. Thanks for the feedback.

Yeah, I think it does...because when I owned the MKIIN, I never considered carrying around just one lens. I carried the 17-40L for wide shots and the 24-70L....which with the 1.3x crop almost worked out to the 24-105 :)....(guess that's my fav. range...)

Great shots of Bellagio! What was the settings? Was it handheld? Sorry about off-topic.

mannn .. i shouldnt go into these threads. makes me want to look into re-doing my lens setup lol

24-105 has a great range for walkaround/travel lens.

i recently bought the 10-22mm so that makes a good combo (plus it uses same filter size lol). i also have the tamron 28-75mm and canon 70-200L f4. i could sell those 2 and get the 24-105. but then ill lose the 105-200 range lol

i do like the tamron and it works nice for portraits with the 2.8 aperture but 28mm doesnt seem wide enough (why i had to get the 10-22mm). how is the 24-105 with portraits though? bokeh? :)

These threads got me thinking about redoing my setup since they are still new figure I'll get more $$$ if I sell them now.
Since Im not planning to upgrade to FF anytime soon, figure w/ my 350D my 17-40 is not wide enough so really thinking about selling it and get the 10-22 and 24-105L.
But I do like the f/2.8 24-70L... can't decide..

This is part of my lens lineup. And I can tell you the quality between these 2 lenses is almost the same. Maybe because the 10-22 uses "L" glass too. Brilliant and contrasty colors with lots of saturation.

Then just add a 70-200L and a 100-400L and you're done!

I have to have some real wide-angle on my walk-around lens, so it would have to be at least 17mm on the wide end, and preferably 15mm.
