Yesterday when playing with my son Maxim i rembered that i really miss B&W photos, so here we go. I wanted it to have some noise
It was handheld without flash in a pretty dark room

as usual comments a very much appriciated.

I like the picture and what you are going for, but the stark difference in the bright and the shadow are a bit distracting to me.

Looks like his eyes may be a little soft while his ear is in sharp focus. It's tough to tell with a small pic though. Personally, I think the pic would be better if he were looking up or maybe if you included the item that has caught his attention.

i wanted to make all the image a bit soft and grainy
but now i notice his ear is sharp :(

should i backfocus a bit ?
a larger version is available below the picture up to 8 megapixels

It's a difficult shot to evaluate- the harsh light on his shoulder is hard to deal with and I'm not getting anything from his expression. What were you going for (other than a B&W shot)?

I guess i was going for concentration
He is 2 years old, he did not hold anything in his hands or was looking at anything
I guess he was just thinking about something

At this age this is a rare moment, at least from my experience, so i tried to capture it
There was just one bulb in the room and i had my 24-70 so I tried to make the best i could

Nice shot and nice crop. You just never know what makes a child get into deep thought. I like it as is. Too much thought on your part might make you miss the shot.
