well i bought the Tamron because of the more towards everyone saying it seems to be a little more edge to higher IQ..plus I found a great deal. Plus it was 67mm filter wich was the same as my 70-200 and I would be able to use the CP on both lens. Plus it has a normal switch from AF/M
the Sigma you gotta like flip the switch then pull down the body.
But either one you choose I think you will be good to go

I have the Tamron as well and truly appreciate the image quality. I'm a prime shooter most of the time, but will reach for the 28-75 if I need a versatile zoom with good image quality.

i have the sigma, very happy with it. not sure about IQ compared to tamron, but as 05Xrunner said, the big diameter (82) and 2 step AF/MF are the downsides for the sigma when comparing the 2.

Got the Tammy and never looked back, also pretty good build quality! It also has the center pinch lens caps, so you can easly put on or take off the lens cap with the hood on!

I had both.
To me the IQ was very close, maybe even the same but the deciding factor for me keeping the Tamron was the size and weight difference.
The sigma is a lot bigger and heavier than the Tamron. it felt wrong on my 350D.
I did find 24mm usful though but i will vote for the Tamron.

I couldn't afford the the 24-70/2.8Ls so I decided to make a test run with the 28-75s. All I can say is the Tamron produce some really excellent shots. It's the first third-party lens I've ever bought and I can't say anything other than I"m very happy with this lens. I don't really plan on getting the 24-70s anytime soon because of this, and I will rather invest in the missing range I currently have than worry about this range since it's well covered. :)

I haven't tried out the 24-70 sigmas however, but if you decide Tamron, you won't be disappointed. It's a light lens, and the build and AF are "ok" IMO. It's nothing compared to the 24-70Ls, but for around 1/3 of the price, its well worth the money!

I choose the tamron. Go on my profile and look at posted threads and you can see a mini review I did for the tamron.

Very happy with my 24-70. You can't lose with either lens. The AF/MF switch isn't really that big of a deal and neither is the weight. At least, for me. 24mm at the wide is considerably more usable than 28 at the wide though.

Another vote for the Tammy, though I've never used the Sigma and I don't think you can go wrong with any of these.

Generally-speaking...

Sigma: better build-feel, faster but noisier AF (and better in lowlight), 24mm, heavier.
Tamron: slightly better optics, 75mm, lighter.

Both are great lenses especially at their price-point.
