Cedar Waxwing from today..

managed to get a shot of this guy this morning. i have quite a few more shots that i have to go through but this one was probably the highlight for me (i did get a few great landscape shots though..)

This is an excellent shot Snir of the Cedar Waxwing. Perfect focus on the bird, showing nice sharpness and colour, great catch-light with a nice pose of the bird all set with a nice blue sky background, perfect shot, well done.

If you have this as a horizontal photo leave it that way and crop so that the bird isnt centered and has room on his right to look into. Or do a tighter vertical crop as the space on birds left is not needed. Other then that this is a great photo. Thank you for sharing.

Very nice, Snir - but maybe a bit too saturated and contrasty on my monitor?

I've take the liberty of attaching a version where I've reduced the contrast and saturation slightly in Curves - I think it brings out the eye detail and makes for a more natural-looking sky.

I like it but it has that bird on a stick feel to it, no woo-hoo factor. It might be the perch is angled up which leads the eye away from the bird. Most likely it's me not having a clue what I'm talking about.

Very nice clear shot of this beauty and I agree with Tommy in regards to a horizontal crop. I do prefer Keith's edit for the reasons mentioned. Nice image!

thanks Gary. btw, the reason why i went with this crop is because of many distracting elements that were in the original framing. i decided to crop like that instead of cloning out tons of branches and other items...
