Here are a couple of pictures I picked out from all the ones I took in Hawaii. The Dole Plantation seemed to be what my friends liked, and I thought this sunrise picture was interesting and could use some feedback as to how to make it better. It was really cloudy and dark that morning, I was there for over 30 mins waiting for the light/clouds to change. These aren't edited too much, but I had some that were so heavily edited, I MADE it look pretty ;)

Oh and what's a fast/easy (free) way to put a nice white or black border around my pictures in photoshop? I think I remember seeing a tutorial somewhere...

Thanks to Les Mclean and all the others who gave me some wonderful tips in my landscape help thread before I went :)

Very nice! I am trying to get my friend from school on this forum to share some of her pics of Hawaii as well. She used to live there before she moved here to go to college. She has some great shots as well... And from the plane too... Her quote was, "It looks so small from a plane I never imagined it could look that small." lol That was her first time ever flying.

Anyhow, I really like that second shot! The colors are just amazing and you have just the right amount of beach IMO.

Second for me, and that figure is so important, try putting your finger over him (or her), the image loses impact when you do.

Would like to see them a bit bigger ?

Concentrate on equipment and you'll take technically good photographs. Concentrate on seeing the light's magic colours and your images will stir the soul. - Jack Dykinga

Yeah, I was just shooting with my tripod and there were people coming and going on the beach. I wanted to catch someone walking their dog but they weren't in my line of sight. This person was just randomly placed :) I guess I could have gotten my family to go over there but I was just trying to get a decent shot.

After this trip I realized how hard it was to compose for landscape.
