Ok....Here goes.
I was planning on selling my 70-200f4 to upgrade to the 70-200 2.8IS and also get the 100-400L
Now my new idea was to keep my 70-200f4 cause it works so great for me and get the Sigma 120-300 2.8. After soooo much praise this lens gets.
Then that will eliminate the need for the new 70-200 2.8 and the 100-400L and save me money
Plus I will have a constant ap of 2.8 and if I want more I can get aTC 1.4x and have more then 400mm and still have a faster apature then theL
yes the focus might be a tad slower like this but I think it seems to be a better idea for me. Plus save me $1000 by getting 1lens for 2grand instead of 2 lens that would be 3grand total.
So does this sound like a pretty good idea or am I better off with the 2 lens setup.

This would be fine as long as you plan on using the new Sigma with a tripod or monopod whereas the 70-200 IS and 100-400 are handholdable lenses.

yea I thought so to...I get the range I want...have a very fast apature and save me $1000 bucks in the long run.
I would imagine using the sigma APO 1.4x wouldnt degrade the quality much at all on this lens I hope.

I have seen shots with the 2X TC on it that looked great.

It seems a pretty good idea if you are OK with the weight. I'm a huge fan of the 70-200 f/4 and it's nice to see someone trying to keep a place for it.

yea the weight is cool with me....When i shoot I lug my gun around for hours and its 13lbs....LOL
so this isnt anywhere near that.
Yea the 70-200 f4 is great..u barely feel like u are carrying it around and the IQ wide open is just awsome.
After I get this lens and my 30D and maybe the Tokina 16-50 I am done for a LONG time...lol

OK..I seem to have confused myself a little more
I was on pabse looking at all the images from the 120-300, 50-500, 100-300 f4
It seems from those pics the bigma and 100-300 seem to have better quality pics then the 120-300
Is this maybe just cause pbase uploads tons of stuff and not alot of people who upload them take nice pics....I am kinda wondering now..should i get the 100-300 or bigma instead...I mean that 2.8 is really nice but I just was hoping it was going to be better then those 2. Photozone didnt seem to rate it much either
