I have had a 70-200 2.8L for about 8 years and just upgraded to the IS version.

So far I'm very happy with it. I was worried that my old lens would be sharper or focus better or whatever.

The new lens seems to focus faster, is very sharp, and has noticably better boca.

Most of the shooting I'll do with this lens will benefit from having IS as I hand hold this lens a lot. I guess that I will have to be aware of the additional power consumtion and keep my spare battery handy.

I have been considering this upgrade for over a year and while my old 70-200 was great the new one is clearly a superior lens. If you are thinking about this upgrade - go for it!

No photos to upload.

I'm debating whether or not to tell my wife. I'm sure she would never notice the difference, with the possible exception of it having no scratches on the barrel.

Many women don't appreciate what a great "investments" L lenses are.
