Not the best shots but you get what you can when you see a bird first time ever. These were shot of of my car window. I could not get down to his level for much better shots because as soon as I openened the door he flew off.

This one if my fav of the bunch as I was able somehow to achieve a low angle... background isnt the prettiest but like I said... :)

I would love to have shot this photo at his eye level... would have been perfect.

Thank you for looking and as always C&C welcomed.

I would be extremely happy if these were mine. I have not seen one in real life. Good for you Tom.

Those are very nice I think. Very sharp, great feather detail. A really beautiful bird. I see more of these in Winter and I look forward to them.

Excellent detail and exposure, Tom, and I really like the apparent "bird's eye-level" composition of the first.

Not a bird I have ever seen except in the Winter and I managed my best shots of this species about 8 months ago ,,,from my car:D . Are these in the Toronto area this time of year?

Oh yeah.....great shots. Light, colors and detail are very nice. Even though not the greatest angle the stones in the second shot really works..

Gary... these were shot at Algonquin PP while camping this weekend. We stopped by on our way out of the park for a quick stretch and saw this guy on the ground. Since I have never seen it before I wanted to make sure I get a good shot... the first one is the best I have of the bunch. Maybe there will be other oportunities.
