Hi,
Can anyone recommend a good pro lab in Canada that takes online orders and does a good job at printing and takes diligent care for packing and shipping prints?

thanks

Stephan

I predominatly use http://www.photossurplace.com/welcome.html (external link) . They are located in Montreal and don't have a big fancy website but there work is second to none. I have on occasion used http://www.cameracanadaprolab.com/ (external link) whose quality is very very good. The thing I like about both of these is that there work is consistent. I went through a rather lengthy process of trying a number of labs until I settled where I am now.

They both allow ftp of the files and I have yet to receive anything damaged. In most cases I use couriers instead of the mail service.

My life is like one big RAW file....way too much post processing needed.

I've also used Camera Canada Pro Lab, awesome prints and service. Their large prints are competitively priced, not sure about their smaller proofs though.

Laugh all you want but I used London Drugs (one that has their own in house lab) and the results were stellar.

people will always try to stop you doing the right thing if it is unconventional

I've used London Drugs in Edmonton and they were (repeated attempts) horrible with digital files. They refused to print without auto-enhancements and auto corrections which is why they messed up the images. It sounds like the manager of the London Drugs where you live does a better job running their lab.

I use Lifetouch that is based out of Winnipeg Manitoba. I haven't had any complaints.

I recognize the address as what used to be Winnipeg Photo and they also ran a subdivision called SpeedX photo labs. I used them back in my film days for awhile until they lost two orders on me. I got one back some two years later and the other never was found. It does happen.
