Help! Red tinted pics.

Hi, I posted a picture , I think its titled close ups on the 2nd page here. My picture has alot of red in it. I took the same picture in different modes, aperature's etc and they are still red. Is it just me? I have a EOSdigital Canon rebel xt with a Tamron AF 18-200 mm F/3.5-6.3 macro lens on it. Any advice is welcome. This is a new camera and lens.

Thanks,

Teeny

Teeny,

I'm responding from your other post. If your color looks one way on your monitor and a different in print, you probably need to calibrate your monitor. There is a lot of information on this in some of the other forums.

If you want to fix it after the fact, you can do adjustments in photoshop, but it depends on which photoshop you have.

The best way to get good color out of the camera is to custom white balance. I don't remember how it works on the XT, but it is SOOOO easy. It's in the manual and very simple directions to follow. You will just need a grey card to do this. They are very cheap and well worth the money. Once I finally started doing CWB, it cut my post-processing time in half, if not more.

I hope that helps some!

Thanks Kara. I was wondering if there is somthing in the camera where you adjust colors? Or do you just adjust the whiite balance. By the way I don't have photoshop yet. I am using program that came with camera.

I think Kara hit the nail on the head there, Teeny!

For Photoshop adjustments, try fiddling with the levels (Image > Adjustments > Levels... (or, alternatively, hit CTRL+L)). A less efficient method might be to alter the colour/saturation (Image > Adjustments > Hue/Saturation... (or CTRL+U)).*

* These menu shortcuts are relevant to CS2

Good luck! :)

Sorry to double-post, but I've just noticed your last response, Teeny!

As far as I know, you can alter colours in-camera only when using B&W/monochrome.

If you want to do this, hit MENU, scroll across to the second red tab, and go to PARAMETERS. Hit SET and scroll to B/W. You'll notice you can add coloured tints using the FILTER EFFECT and TONING EFFECT.

Perfect if you want to create some lovely sepia/coloured shots without much (if any) post-processing. :D

The 350D is a beautiful tool, as I've come to realise. Love and learn with it!

It seems fine on my monitor. Maybe its the printer place. Color balanced can be easily fixed in photoshop, but if u dont have it, Picasa 2 is a nice program that can fix it. It is owned by Google right now and it is completely free, hope that helps.

Your white balance was off when you created the image. It is fixable in Photoshop. I do recommend Photoshop Elements ... a lot of the features of full Photoshop but at much less cost. Your image shows as having way too much yellow on my Viewsonic professional series monitor. I'm adding my version and hope you like it.

I used "Remove Color Cast" in PS Elements and used the white shirt as the source:
