I was at Newport today on the Central Oregon Coast.

What do you think?

I think this one has a lot of potential. What could I do differently to make it better?

I love Newport :) Do you ever shoot the harbor/bridge? (It's one of my fav. places to go, especially in the fog...)

Did you use a polarizer? That would be my only suggestion (for the second one)...

Although i do like all the textures of the 2nd one , the burnt out sky spoils the whole picture.

Thanks for the feedback. I appreciate it.

Dimitri, you're right. It is blown. I found another shot. I think it's a little better. What do you think?

Peregrin,

D'OH! I can't believe I didn't think of the polarizer. I use it quite often, but it didn't even cross my mind. CRAP!

I did get a few shots of the bridge. Not the greatest, and they're in the process of painting it, but I kind of like these. What do you think? (They could have benefitted from the polarizer also!)

I did 2 quick edits on the beach one, I think that was my favourite shot. What do you think?

Both in picassa (I'm at work!)

Really nice edits sando!

I've never shot the bridge from that side...haven't even been over there. Cool to see it from a new perspective. Newport is definitely a great place to photograph...old town, the harbor, the wharf...the bridge...the lighthouse...the list goes on!

Looks like you're having fun Turnerzdad!

Sando, those are really interesting edits! I like the 1st one. I'm still looking at the 2nd. It's very different and interesting. I'm glad you did it because it gives me a perspective I never would have thought of. Thanks!!

Peregrin, yes, these were taken from the South Jetty. I have a few more with even more severe angles. There is also a great vantage point from the park on the North side. I lived in Newport for a number of years so I'm pretty familiar with most of the "sweet" spots. :-) You're right, it's a great place for pictures.

Thanks for the feedback.

You're lucky...I moved away from the south coast (coos bay) years ago....I HATE the valley...never feels like I can breathe real air until I cross the coastal range! So Newport is a perfect place for me!

I was over there a couple of weekends ago...this is my fav. place to shoot the bridge and the fog was SO low that the blue sky just looked beautiful above it...(and those dots are gulls :) )...
