This eagle has always obligingly posed for me at the zoo--except for the one day she wouldn't come out from behind the waterfall. This is my 200L F/2.8 with Kenko 1.4 extender.

Thanks...when you don't get any comments for awhile you wonder what's wrong with the picture!

Well I for one dont exactly like photos from zoos etc. Also when you have a bird in a controlled situation with him nowhere to go you should be able to get a much better image :)

The white on the beak is all blown, there is not much detail in feathers etc...

NOW... if you were going for a painting like look... this would be it. This would make a great painting hand on a wall.

thanx for sharing.

ohhh and never get discuraged by the lack of replies... there is a lot of ppl who look and dont post. Take photos that please you and not so much others ;)

Thanks for the constructive criticism. I thought it showed pretty much detail but guess not. Have to try harder on my next zoo outing. :(

The more I look at it the more I think it is in fact a painting and very good one. ALso whenever you are shooting at the zoo and the bird isnt looking at you make bit of noise.... he looks right at you and you press the shutter. Imagine if in this photo the eyes were on you and not looking away :)

You have no idea how much I was whistling and stomping my foot to try to get him to turn. These zoo birds are wise to all the tricks. :)

Next time you want to get this guys attention just hold a toy mouse and jiggle it in your shutter hand..Raptors will stare at prey for long periods of time. You got some nice colour here and I like the composition.Just lost a little in the detail.Do you use Arc Soft to sharpen?

All I have is Adobe 2, don't know what Arc Soft is. Hey, good idea to try a toy mouse! :)

Better keep the mouse in your pocket while walking around a zoo.
