but please please answer this :D

my cousin is due to go back to hong long for hols and i have asked him to get me some UV filters and a grip for my 20D. I'm also waiting to flip a coin to decide whether he should bring me back a 70-200 IS or not...

However, is there an equivalent to this? A siggy even? That works well in low light, fast focusing, good for weddings as well as sport? With a similar IS type thing as well?

Cheers in advance and apologies for the multitude of these questions

One thing's for certain - you will never regret getting the 70-200mm f/2.8L IS. If you don't think you'll need the IS and want to save weight and money then the non-IS version is a good deal and very slightly sharper. If you want to further save weight and money, the f/4 version is also nice (and to further complicate things is now also available with or without IS).

I guess that doesn't answer your question...

I'd say go for it. It's a really amazing lens. I love mine.

Yes, but ALL of the Canon 70-200mm lenses are L, regardless of aperture or IS. ;)

I can't speak of the third-party variants as I don't own any, haven't used them and likely won't.

theres a sigma 70-200 2.8, but no IS. Canon and Nikon are the only ones with IS in a 70-200 2.8

its about the best tele zoom ever made, you won't be disappointed

I think IS is a valuable addition to any lens, especialy as the focal length increases. The 70-200 IS is a wonderful lens and you wil never regret buying one (nor will it seem so expensive over the long term)

Not big on 3rd party lenses myself. The camera store where I bought all my equipment says the Canon 70-200 is their biggest seller of quality lenses. There's a reason for it...............it's the best.
