#4 / Vietnam / Ha Long Bay / 2004

As we are traveling to a remote Island in the far east of Vietnam (Quan Van) we passed the outer rim of the well known Ha Long Bay. Ha Long Bay, in the Gulf of Tonkin, includes some 1,600 islands and islets, forming a spectacular seascape of limestone pillars. Because of their precipitous nature, most of the islands are uninhabited and unaffected by a human presence. The site's outstanding scenic beauty is complemented by its great biological interest.

In the north of Vietnam

The market shot is a wonderful b/w conversion. Every possible tone is in this shot. Great work.

I don't have anything against Nikon cameras, just the people who use them.

And it's wonderfully composed.

Great job!

I also think the third has potential but something is missing.

Yeah, I have the same feeling. I struggeling around with this picture for while now and I am still not satisfied... I tried several B&W conversion technics in Photoshop to get the complete tonal range thats in this Foto but it's hard to decide: Keep the mountain in the back? Add more white to the sky and to the shirt of the young man?

And - finally - I am not very satsified with the clipping (is that the right word???)...

I've got pretty much a wooden eye when it comes to post production. For me, they are of interest just for the subject. :)
