That look's really solid, is it metal or something?
BTW, bit off topic, but I love that style hood with the curves or whatever over the ones that are just round. Is there a word to describe this?

Feels really nice. It does have some weight also, but nto bad for being 2.8, I hear the Sigma is quite a bit heavier. -Andy-

Usually only on wide-medium telephoto and zoomlenses. I noticed once you get the 70-200 the hood just becomes something like a black cup on the lens. I love this hood as well! Plus most hoods you can screw them in backwards to fit in your bag. Cool! This is definitley a good starter lens for me, alongside the sigma 75-300 or tamron 75-300 I plan on getting. Also, why would it be so much easier to MF with this lens then another non wide angle higher aperture lens? I'm a little newb so help me out. I haven't heard anythign about bad copies of this lens, so I can't answer that. -Andy-

The aperture is set on the lens itself, so no the camera can't change it, but you can, but it's all manual. I hear F8-11 and set the focus to infinte is the way to go. Sorry to go off topic, but what do you mean infinite?
