On the manual focus, one direction focuses closer (macro) and the other direction focuses further, I think at the furthest end of focusing, it's infinty...usually the symbol is the sideways "8"

Still a little lost, how can it be infinity? The focus ring (or whatever it is) has a size.

And when your focusing, it still goes in and out of blurriness and stuff like focusing using MF on an AF lens, right?

This lense has been tempting me for a while now, but I don't think I could manage with 28 on the wide end. If it was 17 on the wide end then it'd be perfect!

As for the Tamron, I have had mine on my xt for 6 months now. It stays on quite a bit, I sometimes wish I had more reach but thats why I am eyeing the 24-105. Once again 3-4 times the price but IS and L quality. You will love the lens, I have not heard of a bad copy of this one yet. It will hunt in low light a little sometimes but what 2.8 lens wont?

right that's why infinity is usually used for landscapes, and small apertures...

Back to the orginal question, 28 is a tad wide, but 17-75 2.8 will NEVER exist anytime soon :(

How much is shipping to Canada?

Actualy we live only 20 minutes from the border so i had it shipped to a US address and carried it accross personaly. But they do ship to Canada just put the item on your shopping cart and ask for a shipping quote.

JUst got it, and am very pleased with it.
How refreshing to have such a bright zoom Len's. I think this one is going to stay on the 30D for some time as my favourite portrait len's.

I took a quick snap of my youngest - looking a little bemused (years of me taking pics)

Will post some real ones in the near future.
