These birds are famous/infamous for posing right outside the hide at Stodmarsh reserve. I must now try to get a decent shot of them diving into the water. Fat chance !

Just a couple more. Has anybody got any idea what the bird has in its mouth in the second shot ? It was obviously resilient as the Kingfisher had to bash it several times on the branch before eating it.

I love the colors on this bird. What lens were you using.

Bang on, John!

Again, you can make them "pop" a lot more with a bit of PP (I've only recently started taking PP seriously - specifically, learning how to use Curves properly - and it's a revelation, hence my banging on about such things! ;) ).

In the last picture, the bird has a dragonfly larva (a "nymph") in its beak.

Thank you everybody for the very kind comments.
Fee, It is very strange that you should mention my ninja skills as it has been mentioned before on another Forum. Believe me I am no ninja and these birds are regular visitors to this particular spot. Just got very lucky !
Keith, You are absolutely right about the PP side of things. However seeing as I am a complete numpty when it comes to any form of PP`ing I do struggle. I only have Photoshop Elements and am not even sure if Curves is on there ! I am also massively impressed that both yourself and bromm knew what the bird was eating.
Thank you again.

Absolutely stunning bird! #2 is really an exquisite shot. Sharp, well composed and the fishy is a bonus!

Very well done!
