Brown just delivered my new 70-200 f4 L :D! I haven't had the chance to get any shots yet, but as soon as I do you'll see them.

It's customary to get a duck shot correct?

Yep get the DUCK shot! If not real, than a rubber ducky will do!

Congrats on the lens! Looking to get one, one day!

Thanks. Took me awhile to pull the trigger, but I'm pretty sure I'll be very happy.

Not sure where I'm gonna find a duck, but I'll have fun tryin. :)

If you can't find a duck...a bill taped to anything would work :)
congrats on the new lens...

As long as you accept the concept that the quality of the shot is 90% testimony of your skill, 7% beauty of the duck model and 3% quality of the lens used, you will do fine as a photographer.;)

Haha, this does seem true. I managed to put it off for over a year but finally caved. I wanted the 2.8 but couldn't justify the cost....yet :)

Can someone explain why you have to take pictures of ducks when you get a new lens?

I use Canon gear...have several bodies and lenses and am quite pleased with them.

For some odd reason, once a person buys a big zoom we all want to see how far it shoots (and how sharp)...ducks are slow so they are pretty easy first captures (actually we've got geese right near where I live so they're my "duck" shot) and because their feathers are so defined...well they just make a nice capture... :) and strangely enough there was a pattern, not planned, that everyone was doing it...so it became a joke.

But I DO like catchingup's answer better than mine...
