Wish I could have afforded to have kept my 70-200 f/4L. Such an excellent lens. Just mounting it to the camera and looking through the viewfinder the first time told me that it was an excellent piece of glass. You could tell just looking through it, never mind taking pictures with it. Once I did that, though, I was even more blown away.

Ahh, someday again soon...

I'll tell you what, even at f/4, that lens produces BEAUTIFUL bokeh.

I haven't tried that kind of shots yet. Maybe tomorrow. Your lens looks sharp. I hope mine is going to survive my day at the field tomorrow. Two soccer games with my 70-200L and I'm really excited and happy.

And Surfologist, you haven't posted enough yet. Just Kidding. Need to have a bigger bank account, you're right.

The 70-200 F/4 is awesome. I have no need for the 2.8 so the F/4 will be with me forever....or until I need the 2.8 lol

Take a monopod along. Trust me on this one. One of the things I loved about the f/4L was the weight. After a day of shooting soccer handheld, it was one of the things I didn't like about it. The next week, I had a nice Manfrotto tripod and weight was no longer an issue.

Soccer is one of my favorites to shoot, especially children, because I have pretty unlimited access to the sidelines on about any game. (Extra bonus - parents love to buy pictures of their loved ones in action).

Monopod- Def. on the list ;)

Parents buying pics.... Now that is a hot idea! ;) ;)

I actually have a huge park near my house, with multiple soccer and football vields, i should go, and then carry some business cards, and sell some pics to the parents...

Mtalley, what a good idea!! lolol

As far as this lens being the cheapest and one of the sharpest L's im gonna have to agree, its def sharp i bought it used from Karl who used it since May '06 and the number on the lens is UU0313 so its made in May 06 which is impressive.

As far as the weight goes wow i can handhold this almost as low as 1/60-1/100 at 200mm its very light.
Heres one at 109mm handheld at 1/20
