This is a terrible picture from VERY far away-initially I thought it was a grey heron or great blue heron, but got home and zoomed in and it is obviously not either. Has a hooked beak and black legs. Could it be a cormorant??? One shows the head more and one the full body. Thanks in advance and yes I know they are terrible pictures.

It is some type of cormorant. It is a diving bird. A fish eater.

Double-crested Cormorant - They are at Center Hill Lake and maybe Percy Priest. Where was this one taken?

On the west fork of the Stones River in Murfreesboro. I'm surprised they are on Center Hill or Percy priest--I have never seen it before. But thanks for the info!!

Nice catch, Karen. I saw one for the first time last year on the Tennessee RIver in Knoxville.

They are probably everywhere water wise but uncommon.

Nooo, pretty crummy pictures, I forgot I didn't have an extender on my 200 so didn't get close enough. But nice to get a new bird, I really have never seen one before, thought they were ocean birds. (and haven't seen at the beach either) So it's a first for me...
