Actually I was talking about the one written by Martin Evening. Scot Kelbys stuff is very friendly for the person just starting out, but should make sure to get the one by Martin also. Depending on how deep you want to get into it anyways.

Thanks everyone! I have a wide angle lens but have never used it. I was using my 28-70mm lens on those shots. Her eyes really are that huge...LOL!! (still laughing out loud).

I absolutely LOVED the redo of my photograph!!! Wonderful!! Wonderful!! I just barely got photoshop and need to learn how to use the tools. I can do pretty much nothing on there!! It's overwhelming. I guess I'll need to take a class. Thanks so much for the ideas! I canNOT wait to get to learn some good photoshop tricks!

I would recommend to sign up to Ron's Kramer http://www.portranet.com/ (external link) to learn more about photography and using softwares for it, like Photoshop. He is renowned #1 world's portrait photographer specializing in seniors portrait photography. He teaches all of it on web and has students from all around the world .
Take look at this guy's web site: http://www.thielphotography.com/ (external link), this is what he is after one year with Ron Kramer. Before signing to PortraNet.com he never even own anything better than cheap snapshot camera. There are many like him . Being Ron's student, for 2+ years I have seen those miracles happen daily.

Thanks for your critiques and suggestions, everyone! I actually (and feel free to laugh at me) bought Photoshop 7 3 or 4 years ago for a guy friend of mine and then he wanted soemthing else so I kept it. I had never used it at all until recently....so that is the program I have. How much different is CS2?

Depends on what you want to do.

Photoshop and Photography go hand in hand for me. I started learning Photoshop when I was 11 or 12 (21 now). Way before I ever got into Photography... After working on other peoples photos for years, I decided to start taking my own to encorporate into my art. Turns out I like Photography just as much as Photoshop.

Some people only use Photoshop to smooth out skin, and change colors, maybe do some patch work. So CS2 and all it's updates aren't really needed for that.

Best bet is to just start using whatever version you have now. If you get into it, and realize you'll be using it a lot, then upgrade.

Also, if you take some classes at a local college or something you can get Photoshop CS2 along with a bunch of other programs for around $300.
