Txdude, I like both. :-)

JRA, from down the street! Actually, about 15 feet.

Tara, it is really for shooting entertainers at the casino and some sports.

Surf, she was watching TV and was bit irritated that I was even pointing the camera at her! :-) Wait'll you have one of these ... they are like trying to herd kittens! :-)

KevC, isn't 400mm standard portrait length? I don't think it will even focus in my 10' x 10' studio. :-)

Soaring, actually I shot Marco Antonio Solis with it, inside, on Gitzo legset with Wimberley tripod.

Servo'd, over the past 40 years I have had some very cheap glass ... some of which was excellent ... but only in a very narrow range and only at certain f-stops ... I now tend to get only "L" lenses so that they are excellent no matter how I use them. :-)

I am confused..... where's the freaking duck? This is a really cute girl... not acceptable though. The official bylaws of new lens owners dictates all first shots must be either 1) a duck, 2) a brick wall or 3) the box or some other inanimate object closely followed with the phrase " is this sharp enough". But she is a cutie... so I understand the reasoning behind the breach and I am sure all will be foregiven. Congrats on the lens and a beautiful daughter. Cheers.

Edit: and don't fix the color... the image is perfect with the warm glow. It says home.

Damn, I screwed up again! The Canadian Geese are all gone for now. The only birds close to ducks now are Mud Hens and I don't shoot them. My house is stucco ... we don't have a lot brick here is southern California. The box is boring and looks like all the other 400mm f/2.8L boxes, sigh ... no personality at all. So, I look into the familyroom and see this little face intent on the TV (Lilo and Stitch ... one of our favorites!) and knock off about three frames ... she glances up and says, "That's enough, Daddy". I am done. But I do have it as RAW, too! :-)

Are you kidding me? I would say most of us have never seen that box. I practically live in B&H and I've never seen one. Boring? Hardly.

Great shot of your beautiful daughter.

Wow, you finally got it. Probably the ULTIMATE piece of glass out there.

You work hard and you deserve the fruits of your labor.

You should use it in good health.

Um, Newbie, aren't your windows glass? Don't they let in light? Some of my best images ever are indoor available light from pretty ordinary windows.

Mark, I'm not easily impressed by boxes ... besides, I would have to have put the box farther away than the daughter to get it all in! :-)

imho: Slightly less than original, but more than Waldemar. Is the beach not her natural playground? Lovely!

Hey, Cal! Yes, just a snapshot. Love's the beach but we're not really very close at home and don't go there often. Sure wish she still liked to pose. :(

Whoa, the prodigal returns! :D You know, Dante, it would be a big help if you'd put your business address in your .sig! We were up at Huntington Lake for a few days and coming back down through Clovis I couldn't remember if that's where you were located and I didn't have a phone number for you or the Souzas in my cell to call and get a location. We wound up at Bobby Salazar's and I wasn't impressed.

I hear from Gavin Ellis that the IQ doesn't degrade full open with the 1.4TC although you need a stop or two for the 2.0TC. But the darn thing weighs a ton ... I can't handhold it like the 300mm f/2.8.
