ok so

you evil...evil people have made me decide to get the 17-40L
the problem is that I was going to order it from b&h but I live in NY, which means loads of sales tax. Next was beach camera but they dont carry it.

any suggestions for the cheapest place other than that that people have had luck with?

Thanks in advance
:)

Watch the sale forum here and at Fred Miranda, there are often copies for sale on both sites at good prices.

I cant sign up on fredmiranda
It asks for an email address thats not free...
i put in my msn, gmail, and aol ones and none worked, not sure wat they really are expecting

and a savings of 50 bucks isnt enough for me to buy a "used" lens, Id rather go thru a company and know i got the warranty and am able to send it back if its a bad copy. I was actually going to buy locally (support local businesses) but they are like 850 around here.

I managed to sign up for Fredmiranda but it won't let me view the sales board...I know they have good info but frankly that site frustrates me more than it helps...unlike here.

I used them for both my Ls.

Yeah, I think im going to try bluestripe, seems like the cheapest.

Im reading some reviews and the only thing im seeing wrong is that some lenses dont come with a warranty card (leading me to believe that some might be grey market) but the site says they are all USA warranty products.

Can anyone shed some light on that? (no pun intended)

You can try Sammy's Camera out in LA. They seem to have the usual mail order prices. I have bought a few cameras from them. You can find them on the web and many photo magazines.
