Dan, good site. I'm going to use your promo code, since I'm planning to start with Smugmug this weekend. Hey, quick one for you: is it worth paying $150 for the pro account, meaning - does it come with all the features? I haven't done a lot of research, but it seems like smugmug is the one I'm going with, so just wanted to check on the package.

Thanks, Chancellor.

Thanks Chancellor that would be great.
Not sure if it's worth the $150 for the Pro account, I guess it depends
on you. The support has been great, once you are signed up send me a PM

Dan, signed up and having a test run. So far looking great. I entered your code, but since I'm on 14 day trial, you may not see anything yet.

Cheers!

Dan, I signed up, uploaded some pictures and liked it, but then had extensive travels oversees barely making home on weekends. I'll stay with Smugmug for sure - really liked the interface, so all good. Thank you very much for your help with this.

Dan, confessing that the following will be a stupid question, I have to ask, because I'm a bit lost. I have my camera with me all the time and, of course, had it with me at all my trips. I take a lot of pictures of my girls. Long story short, I have over 100Gb of pictures and I have no idea how to go through them and select the best ones. I primarily shoort RAW + JPEG (mostly small, but have some large ones too). So, in order to select my collection of best ones, I'm pretty much at loss on what constitutes a great picture. I tried a few times to go through them and could not manage the process. I'm really curious how do you (or others) manage the workflow and mainly: the selection of the good ones and elimination of bad.

Without re-reading the aforesaid, I know it's not coherent, but if you got the point, please help with advice. I wonder if I'm the only one with this problem...

Thank you very much.

You can use a rating system in something like Adobe Bridge... give a 5 star for something that is perfect as is or makes you say WOW... 4 star for something that can easily get what you want with some PP... and either delete or rank the bad ones 1 star (or not at all).
You can add other levels if you want.

Then, you can filter by rating... like 4+ stars.

Adobe Bridge supports both JPEG and RAW. Do you have Photoshop?

Rich, what I have enough is the program running on several high-end computers. I'm familiar with the rating system in PhotoShop Bridge and in LightRoom. My question was even dumber: what makes a photograph a "keeper"?

Um... OK.
That's not dumb, just near impossible to answer.
I'd say a keeper is an image that you're proud of, that you're willing to share, that represents an idea that you had, or captures a moment in time that you'd like to remember.

On a technical level, composition, colour, contrast, and sharpness (especially for MrClark321) play a role too I guess.

Nice site Dan and the shot of the lake with a little beach out front is spectacular!! That one should be in a frame IMO! Nice job and good way to organize your shots!

Dan, believe it or not, I finally signed up. Used your coupon, so you should have the discount applied. I'll setup the gallery this week and start a thread bragging about it :D
