an old thread that's been dug up somehow. I was actually the guy who unearthed the old thread, due to the impossibility of finding a way to offer a token of appreciation for POTN existence. I hope others follow suit!

For those outside the U.S., 'PBS' is the 'Public Broadcasting Network' many broadcasting stations which exist largely due to donations from corporations and individuals, featuring some of the best (thought provoking, less mindless than the major networks) art, science, theatre, and other progams. They engage in fund drives multiple times per year.
