I cannot believe how much second hand gear goes for on ebay, I've just seen a Sigma EF 500 DG Super flash go for £150 + £7 delivery. Complete madness considering you can buy new for £125 delivered.

I was hoping to get it for about £70, just can't beleive it.

I sound like him off "one foot in the grave" now.

sorry, rant over.

I know it's terrible!

I sold my canon 75-300mm III non usm for £135 or so, what a disgrace!

And don't even get me started on the 70-210mm push pull I sold for £120, I bought two of them for less than half that at a car boot sale.

It's a great sellers market, but a bad buyers one, unless you buy new stuff or import and manage to avoid the tax.

... or you do some research before buying

It should be assumed that those people who bid on those items should also be able to locate a price comparison website ...

Best regards,
Andy

Just today I saw a TS-E 24 f2.8L tilt & shift lens go for $1241 (actually 661 BP). B&H sells it new for $1099 - and that's the USA version!

I was mildly interested in it, but when it got past $650 I dropped out. I had to hang around just to see what it ended up at.

Have Fun,

Rick

Indeed!

Or at the very least find out how much a new example costs at jessops or something.

I sold my kit lens for about that too,

Wish I still had it now :( It was good to have a lens I could take with me when doing ue and not have to worry about it getting broke.

And sod buying a secondhand one on ebay! lol

I cannot stand going to ebay for any Canon products. People don't even check what the products are new. I bought my 70-200 f4 for much less than the bidders for it and I was shocked that everything I was looking at had the same high bids. So, I don't even look at it anymore. I just go there to look for some old movies and books.

On the flip side though, I wanted a cheap wide angle lens to use before I get a 'proper' one. Went to ebay for a kit lens and paid ~£17 delivered.
I hope I get £47 when I put it back !

That's funny, the cheapest one i've seen on there was £23 and £5 postage and you were the winning bidder.

Yeah I regret selling mine now.

It was great getting 40 odd quid for it but I could really use a cheap lens to take to certain places so it wouldn't be the end of the world if I dropped it and the image quality of them isn't half bad at all.

I'm always looking out for a cheap one on ebay but they usually go in the 40 something region, I check the completed listings and it's amazing how much some people will pay.
