Or for non New Yorkers of Italian descent.....the lens which has kept you on the edge.:D
The one which keeps your index finger poised above the "order now" button for days, but you just do not have it in you (yet) to mash that infernal "enter" key in and thus terminate your agony.

Several factors could be keeping you from ordering the lens.....perhaps budget limitations (we all have those), could be seller's reputation (or lack thereof), could be a concern about actual lens performance in your hands, etc.

I'd like to hear from you about that lens which just keeps on tempting you, and what are the reasons, at least those that you are willing to share, which are holding ya back.

Please let us not talk about fantasy lenses such as the 1200mm , etc., only those that are within your realistic reach (as well as sincere desire to own it), or close to it.

I have had a few "on the edge" lenses: the most recent one is the 50mm f/1.2L USM......I'd like to have it as soon as possible, however, I do not have total faith in its sharpness wide open.

One of the 70-200's or the 100-400. Partly because of budget and partly because of being indecisive. I'm thinking of going with the 70-200 F/4 soon and then saving up for the 100-400, get the best of both worlds. I have no concerns over the performance aside from the possible quality control over the Sigma version and it's weight.

We're closing on our first home on the 22nd. There's going to be a little extra money lying around and the drop of that 'edge' is looking more and more tempting.

I'm a fast prime junkie ... the 85mm 1.2 or the 50mm 1.2. I don't know that I could justify spending that much on a lens that might not give me a return though (either through enjoyment or monetary). Oh god that 85 is sweet though.

I got to try the 400mm 2.8 IS this last weekend thanks to a very kind stranger I met at 6am in the middle of nowhere. Absolutely stunning lens - takes a suprising amount of skill to handle properly. The next time I've gotta purchase another car I might just consider taking the bus/bike for a few years.

I've wanted a 300 2.8L IS for some time, but I'm actually leaning toward just getting the 500 after losing some faith in its performance with the 2x, which would be a regular operation for me.

I'm looking very much forward to the 50 1.2L. Looks fantastic.

the 500 was my dream lens too... but then i started shooting sports, and the 500 would be too long, and the 2.8 is neccesary.

Well this is quite a cheap lens compared to most of the others mentioned here but for me it's the 85mm 1.8... I'm saving to go away and as a student I don't have much spare cash but I really, really want the lens.. either that or the 28mm 1.8.. I'm torn between going for the wider option for live shows or the longer option for shows and portraits :p

I should get paid for my magazine work this week and we'll see how much that is.. if it's enough for the lens I think it's going to be mine within a week and I'll just work more to make up the difference :p

70-200 2.8 IS. Years ago i sold my 80-200 2.8 and have regretted it ever since! So sharp. So fast. Sooo heavy.:) I will find a way to get the 70-200, probably by incurring a large debt along the way!
