Forgot to complement you on capturing the "sleeping" Osprey. I doubt though he was actually snoozing. Most raptors including Ospreys have nictitating eyelids which protect their eyes from dirt etc. To get one doing this is a stroke of good luck.

Billginthekeys......What you are seeing is actually a second eylid called a nictitating membrane. It is fairly clear and allows a bird to close it's eyes without loss of vision during the time it is blinking. You caught this bird just at that exact moment in time. LD, or Mike
