They saw my daughter's pictures and wanted some of their own. I'll work on my son this week...

Great pictures bwolflord, good exposure and sharp. They look a bit stiff though.

Actually let me correct myself, picture 2 and 3 look a bit stiff to me otherwise everything else is A+.

PS. How did you prevent any reflections of the studio lights off their glasses?

I think you need a tad more light on the left... and yes, make them laugh!

Mike, Stiff? Apparently you've met my mother in law!

Preventing the reflections in the eye glasses is all about angles. Either turn them away from the light or raise the light high enough to eliminate it. In my first series of pictures of these to varmits, you can see the lights in the glasses. I just experiemented. Easiest method: if the lights are camera right, turn them camera left and have them turn SLIGHTLY back to camera right. Too much and there's the glare.

Lil Miss - They didn't want the smiles because it created more wrinkles. These are unretouched (from a cloning/healing brush perspective). They also adhere to the British rule of dentistry. OK, that's a stereotype, but still kind of funny.

Amonline - I agree, but alas all I had was one flash and a 48" circular white reflector. I need to purchase something bigger. If you had seen my first series of them, the lighting on the left in these images looks like a spotlight. RE make them laugh, do you mean like in the attachement? (obviously no retouching)

Brice

I like them (the pictures!) a lot. Ok, maybe the "models" were a little stiff, but the images were very good :)

I'd be interested to know what camera/lens combination you used, what the black background was, exif data etc. I'm only beginning myself, and this would be helpful to know how you took these crisp pics :)

Thanks. They are stiff, but they are who they are.

I used a Canon Digital Rebel 300D with a 50mm F1.8 lens. ISO 100, shutter speed 200, F10. All set in manual mode. The black background was a piece of felt cloth 72" wide by 4 yards long. Purchased at Joann's Fabrics for $14. The flash was an Alien Bee 800 camera right at 45 degreed raised to approximately 20-30 degrees above their noses, bounced off a 48" white umbrella. The flash was aimed in front of them so the pole in the imbrella pointed about 8-12" in front of them into a 48" inch white photoflex reflector.

If there is other exif data you'd like, let me know, I'd be happy to provide it.

Great shots. I like them.
My only complaint though, it's nothing serious, just something that
bothers me, and I dont know why, is the hot Spot on his (SOB) Nose.
I like the colors, and they came out sharp.
