Does anyone know if a canon 80-200 2.8 L class lens will work with the 1.4X EF EXT II and 2x extenders?

thanks - I always see the 70-200 listed as compatable but the 80-200 is omitted.
Have you tried it yourself Jr. senator and if so how are the results?

Offically, the TCs only work with L lenses, and only certain ones. The "Magic Drainpipe" (80-200 f2.8L) is not one of them. That is one reason why folks upgrade to one of the 70-200 f2.8Ls. Check here for the list:

The 80-200L will not work with the EF extenders - the rear element is more or less flush with the lens mount, so the protruding parts of the extender don't work with it. However, the Kenko Pro or Tamron SP teleconverters work very well with it. I've used the Kenko Pro 1.4x on my 80-200L with very minimal quality loss. Very nice.

A friend of mine has the 80-200 f/2.8L and uses the kenko TC's with very nice results if that helps. All of which he brought over from his film days.
