My 35L (which was badly front focussing), was turned-in to Canon (NJ) for a mend.

It came back with a note detailing the work which has been carried out:
1. Focus Adjustment,
2. Tilt Adjustment

What is the reason for fix [2] ?
What are the visible symptoms with PICs shot with a lens that needs a "Tilt Adjustment"

Thnx ...

I would assume something inside was tilted out of alignment, so they adjusted it. what matters most is, does it work properly now?

Yeah, how is it now? Did they do a good job? I just sent a lens into Canon's NJ center for a focus adjustment.

Very interesting. I have heard of lens element "centering" (apparently the EF 50mm f/1.0 L USM was provisioned with a centering adjustment feature).
Did the lens exibit uequal sharpnes one side vs. the other ?

No hard experiences with that, but I would assume that one side is in focus, while the other is not. Also refered to as 'centering', I think.

Best regards,
Andy

As far as I can tell the front focussing problem is fixed.
As far as "end-to-end sharpness", I must check ...
