My G3 is not staying on in camera mode after I take the first shot. It is powered on, but it's almost like the lens cap is on... the Av is shown and with half depress of shutter the Tv is shown in red as 1s. This just started a month ago, and I'm not sure why. I've fully charged the battery and used it in different situations but the same results.
Has anyone else had similar problems with their G series cams?

Does it only work when you turn it off and back on again?

Yes, after almost every shot. Or, switch to play mode and press the shutter to activate camera mode, which sometimes works.

My camera is still giving me a black screen but I continue to use it on various occassions. It's not the LCD screen just showing black, there is obviously something not 'opening' or 'activating' the live preview. With all the G series users out there I'm suprised no one else has had a similar problem.

Are you saying that the camera will take pictures, but that the LCD does not show a picture (neither in live preview nor review mode)? i.e the LCD stays black but, other than that, the camera functions?

If taking a shot in Av mode, my live preview in the LCD is black, I get a red 1s underexposure warning as I take a pic, and get a black image. If I turn the camera off and on a few times the LCD preview comes up live and everything is fine. I take another shot, the preview shows an image for 2 sec, then when it swtches from preview to camera mode I get a black screen, almost as if the lens cap is on which of course it isn't. I then have to turn the camera off and on again, sometimes more than once until the live preview shows up.
