Female common yellowthroat (warbler), taken September 29, 2005 from the same sidewalk as the other birds. Again, these birds were not placed there. I simply found them there, exhausted from the migration. I still have no clue why so many end up on this same sidewalk but I imagine that it has to do with either 1) the sound of running water in this very small city park, 2) the lighting, 3) heat build-up on the bricks. I'd love to hear other theories.
