Fantastic shots Keith. Beautiful surroundings. Love the colours and the reflection really adds to these shots. Brilliant work as always. :-)

Best regards

Sindri

Very nicely done love the reflection, it amazes me how your birds let you get so close Heron's in the uk are so shy we need 400mm plus to get them- even today i could not get close enough and thats with a 500mm +1.4tc .
Rob.

There are alot of these guys around in these parts and they seemed to be more tolerant of people. Once in a while I'll get lucky and really get close to one of these. That morning, I put the 28 to 70 on not knowing if I would, then I spotted this one :))

Great shots Keith. I guess you will be getting rid of the 100-400 now right? :D Nice habitat, reflections , composition. Blue makes an interesting observation and the Heron does have a fair amount of rust colored feathers, especially on the side shown in the second image. I photographed a Heron here in Ottawa that also has a lot of rust/reddish colored feathers......Nice work Keith!

No Gary, I think I'll hold on to that 1 to 4 just a little longer :) :), these little guys are the exception, not the rule. It seems that these may associate people with food as this guy makes his morning stop at a nearby bird sanctuary to eat and then hangs around the the water for additional food.
Thanks to all for the wonderful comments. I think I will try and put the lens to more use when the opportunity presents it self. :)

Keith,

Nice pair of photos. Good detail with lots of the natural environment depicted.
Almost makes them "nature" shots instead of "bird" shots...
