MMMM........ More L goodness to add to my collection!

Just got back from my LCS with an EF 17-40 f/4L

I'm off to shoot, will be back with samples later

Shoot at 20 with any filter on it.

Shoot wide open or stopped down and this lens will not disappoint. Congrats, literally my money maker lens.

I just went to put a filter on it, and noticed there are two small places that the lens coating is worn away. maybe from sitting on the shelf? will that affect quality of the lens? I'm gonna take it back and ask them, but should I be worried?

I wouldn't expect the lens coating to be worn away anywere on a new lens - or even on a used one. The lens coating is what helps to control the flare, and this is especially important on a wide angle zoom. Are you sure the coating is worn away, or is it just a variation in the lens coating color?

wow, "L" series lenses are REALLY special! I just took the lenscap off again, and its self healing!

I can still see where there are two very small what look like scratches, i'm gonna take it back, just to make sure

if there are in fact scratches on it for sure get refunded. congrats on the lens though. it certainly is a winner

Congrats on a great lens. If I were you I'd exchange it just for the peace of mind.

Exchange for peace of mind - this is why I prefer to buy from a brick and mortar with a good returns policy - especially if they price-match!

the lens should have NO marks on it whatsoever, unless you bought as used, and declared in less-than-mint condition.
