Sep 20, 2006 12:38 | #3 I just went to put a filter on it, and noticed there are two small places that the lens coating is worn away. maybe from sitting on the shelf? will that affect quality of the lens? I'm gonna take it back and ask them, but should I be worried? 30D w/Grip; 10Dw/Grip; 70-200 f/4 L; 17-40 f/4 L; Canon 50mm 1.8 II,; Tokina 10-17 f/3.5-4.5; 580EX, 430EX. lotsa' memory, lotsa' batteries. The lens coating is what helps to control the flare, and this is especially important on a wide angle zoom. Are you sure the coating is worn away, or is it just a variation in the lens coating color?
