Just curious to know if everyone calibrates their monitor/LCD to optimize their pictures. If so, which package are you using?

Thanks.

Absolutely. I use the Spyder 2 Pro hardware and software.

Yes, often with Optical program and Spyder 2 Pro.

I bet this gets moved......but anyway.........you guys using the spyder have any ideas what to do when you can't (no matter how I adjust) get the square that "should" show dark gray to black from showing up pure black? Tried Brightness 0-100%, and the same with contrast, but nothing helped. Any Ideas?

Did you shut off all the lights the room and all the blinds/draes pulled??? Its sometime very hard to see it with external light source. For the record Spyder 2 don't require meto do that except to reset display to factory default unless I don't like the how it looks after it is calibrated.

I'm acutely color-blind but my dual LCDs are calibrated just the same - for me to optimize the shadow/highlights detail (which I can see) and for my "color consultants" (wife or 9-year old son) to help me in getting the right WB....

I use a Monaco Optix XR and I calibrate every 10 days.

I've got the Monaco Optix XR and just used it to calibrate my new Samsung 215WT. I had to use the monitor white point setting, but other than that it worked a treat!

Yes I did all of that........even set to factory spec.......nothing, still black. The funny part is I can see the lighter squares just fine. I'm considering a new monitor at this point, I don't know what else to do.

BTW I'm using the Spyder Suite........Dell 19" Ultrasharp(hooked up to analogy signal), about 3 years old.
