anyone have any experience with this lens? its probably discontinued now, but my main concern is because its not a DG lens, it may have flaring issues....

350D, kit lens, 50mm 1.8, 28-105 3.5-4.6. Yeah. Thats it. You people with long lists just make me feel inadequate.

hmmm, even before you talk about flaring, you may have compatibility issues! some of these sigma models are known to have to be re-chipped before it will funtion properly.

i think you would be better off with a non-dg ex 70-200mm f/2.8

Get the Sigma 70-200mm 2.8 DG EX HSM... No complaints here. I refer to mine as my Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Model Portrait lens. LOL!!! I love that lens. Images are sharp and contrasty, do not exibit flare, and I love the black finsh.

(I do not work for SI, SI uses the Canon version.)

Here is a picture taken with the lens on a 300D with 580EX Speedlight.
F/2.8
126mm
SS: 1/200
ISO: 100
Taken in AV
First is whole shot. Second is the 100% crop without sharpening.
I lost a little color and detail when I saved for web, but you get the point.

I had this lens but it will only work wide open on 2.8...
The results are great but obviously you can only use the one arpeture so that causes problems sometimes.
I bought mine for £40 and recently was given £260 for it when i traded it in for my 70-200f4 L ...
U cant get this lens chipped to work either so i'd spend your money on a 70-200f4L instead or the sigma equiv...

I think you missed something here. We are talking about the 70-210 APO, not 70-200 EX DG APO blah blah. This is the (much) older lens.

That is why I suggested the 70-200mm version. I may have misinterpreted the second poster however. ;)
