I've been ask to shoot some pics for the church website.
After being thrilled with the ones I took for VBS and some other church functions, the Pastor doing the website said he needed some shots of "church life" for the webpage. Was planning on using my 50mm 1.8 because I really don't want to use flash as I wonder about taking shots of various activites, youth group, children in classes, adult Bible studies, and Sunday morning worship.
Since there for the web, I don't think they need to be "perfect" as website size photos are very forgiving.

;) that depends on if you WANT one....

The 50 should work just fine inside...it's fast enough and usually wide enough for larger interiors...

LOL

I do want one, but I was looking at the 28-105 f3.5-4.5 USM which isn't gonna help at all in this situation.

have you considered one of the wide angle primes? i've heard good reviews about the 35's 24, and i think the 28 is meant to be pretty good, also got the speed which will be helpful for interior shots.

I would get the 24 1.4 if I was you! I think it would be perfect for what you are doing

Since you have a 1.6 crop 50mm just is not wide enough. I think you need a 17-55 f/2.8 IS. Fast, wide, flexible and IS to help. What more could you ask for?

I'd second the 17-55 F2.8 IS, wonderful lens, if you budget can stretch that far. If not, maybe a 35mm F2.0? 28mm F1.8? or 24mm F2.8? or 20mm F2.8? wow, that's alot to choose from :)

Hi,

In my experience the 50MM on the 1.6 crop body is just too long for indoor pictures. I just bought the Sigma 30MM f/1.4 for $354 at Sigma4less.com and I am very, very happy with it.

30MM is good for groups and landscapes in ourdoor use. My copy has a "killer" sweet spot at f/8 and renders very sharp pictures.

So, look for a fast wide angle lens for your indoor pictures.

I'd vote for the 17-55 F2.8 IS as well.:)

I think between your 18-55 (that is wide enough), the flash and the 50 f/1.8 you already have the minimum equipment required to do the job.
So I'd say you do not "need" another lens for the job the way I understand it.
