Do you use one? Can you recommend a system to me?

I understand that with the screw on filters you are stuck with the horizon in the middle, which is not ideal. That leaves the funky rectangle ones - Cokin and Lee.

Can anyone recommend from use which is better?
My landscape photography has been limited (as are my skills for it), so any and all help is greatly appreciated. I would really like to take more photos outside, as Thailand is an amazing place, but am sick of blowing out the bright SE Asian skies. ;)

Thank you! :D

A graduated ND? I think you can get screw on filters, but they are rare. I have been told that the cokin ones are the way to go.

I've used both the Lee and Cokin.
The Cokin filters are not true ND Grads, they are grey grads.
That said I found them very good and only switched to Lee when I moved from a 10D to a 1DMKII.
The 1.3 crop of the 1DMKII with a 17-40 lens @17mm caused vignetting with the Cokin P system.

I use HiTech 100mm filters and holder, but I would recommend you get a Cokin P holder and 85mm HiTech filters. I have had problems with Cokin filters causing a colour cast, especially the flat ND's.

I use the Cokin Z PRO ND Grads with a Lee filter holder.
Couldn't do without them for my landscapes...

I'm happy with the Cokin, but I'd probably be happier with the Lee if that's what Dimitri suggests. :-D

Athena,
I use a Tiffen graduated ND with a Cokin P holder. Many people have two or three different strengths so they can stack them according to the needs of the lighting conditions.
On a personal note: Hope you are safe and well in these times in Thailand.

Bob

I don't have anything against Nikon cameras, just the people who use them.

So many fabulous responses - thank you all for your wonderful advice.

Now to take all this information and see what I might be able to find here. Will probably have to order online though. 3rd world is great till you need something other than food, LOL

Bob - thanks for thinking of me. So far the only difference on a daily basis is that there are quite a few military checkpoints. Lots of soldiers in uniform carrying automatic weapons... I'm not sure what they are looking for, but it's not me so all is good. ;)

Where do you get them? I don't see them on B&H's site. Did I miss them?

Hmm. If they're good enough for Steven, they're good enough for me!
Think I'll look at the Z Pros :)

I second that suggestion. Especially if budget is an issue.
