I noticed when I was transfering some images today that the way my 20D names images has changed

Images used to be named something like IMG_xxxx.jpg

Now the name is _MG_6848.jpg

What happened? I don't recall changing any settings and I can't find anywhere to change this in the menus.

Help! Is something wrong with my 20D? :(

Thanks

You've set your colour space to Adobe RGB, that's all.

Why, yes I did.

I was reading a book about a week ago that suggested doing that if PP was done in photoshop.

Thanks for the info!

Cheers,

Eddie

Very good atricle, thanks. Now I'm wondering if I should be shooting in sRGB. Most of my printing is via Mpix and/or Smugmug (ezprints I think)

I have noticed (just lately) when I do a Proof Colors I see a few Gamut warnings on the image.

Could this be because I'm shooting in Adobe RGB?

Not that I noticed - just hang out at a lot of British fora and read a lot of British books. I have to turn it off when writing at work!

Yes, there are colors that aren't contained in sRGB. If you do a Convert to Profile, the CMM usually does a good job of compensating so your eye won't notice. You can always tweak again after the conversion as a last step.

If you're comfortable with color management, there's no reason you shouldn't keep Adobe RGB files around for future use when you want to print on something better than smugmug.

Are you mac or PC?

I use a PC

lol, I was wondering too where the "I" went after I tried to follow the book that I was reading. I think we're reading the same photoshop cs book.
