You either have a WB/levels problem or you lightened the shadows way too much in #2. Hair and lip color are completely different in the 2 images. 5D, Drebel, EOS-3, K1000

It looks like the eye is a little out of focus. If possible, you probably want to focus on the closer eye. It looks to be back focused, but perhaps there was some movement/camera shake. What shutter speed did you take it at? Anyway, I really like the lighting and all. You might could tweak the curves a bit in PS. Sep 23, 2006 11:33 | #8 I did paint the lipstick on in the second one, also tried some highlight adjustments to see what they would do. As for playing with curves I haven't tried that yet. Very new to using photoshop. First one shutter speed was1/40 at F5.6 ISO 100. Canon 30D & 350D, 430 speedlight

Here is the second one with no extra PP. Better or worse? Canon 30D & 350D, 430 speedlight

It definitely looks better without the extra PP. The 1/40 shutter speed on the first shot would probably be what is causing the lack of sharpness. Bump up the ISO to 200 or 400 so you can get some faster shutter speeds. As another poster said, the WB is slightly off. With the light from that angle I would use a white or soft gold reflector to bring some light to her face. Then you would not have to PP the highlights. I have some examples I can post when I get home from work if want to see the results from reflectors. They are cheap (if you don't already have one) and fun to work with. "If you're not living on the edge. You're taking up too much room !"

Sep 23, 2006 13:16 | #13 I do now have a 5 in 1 reflector. We had some on that shoot but didn't use it for that shot. Canon 30D & 350D, 430 speedlight

The first photo especially has so much potential to tell a story. Canon 5d with 35mm 1.4L, 24-70mm 2.8L and 135mm 2.0L
