We have had great sunny weather here in the Pacific Northwest this summer, until the first soccer game of the year... Overcast but no rain. But I wanted to try out the 1.4tc on the 200 f1.8. First three are with the 1.4tc last one is a heavy crop using the 200 without tc.
C&C welcome.

Pete

Very nice, Pete! How do you like the 200mm with and without the TC? I heard it's one of the best sports lens on a 1.6 crop camera. Maybe I'll get one someday. Hopefully by then, I would have had enough practice to be able to take great photographs like you and the others here in the Sports Forum.

Jenn, Thanks, I love the 200. With the 1.4xtc it works great. with the 2x you can get some ghosting if you are not careful. By itself it is very sharp and being able to get such a shallow DOF at f1.8 or even f2.5 you can control background blur wonderfully.

Thanks for looking,
Pete

The game looks good, with plenty of ball control...Keeping the ball on the ground is the foundation of a successful team... Looks like a clean game...

In Photo #2: with player # eleven, leading with the ball ,it looks like the white jersey is aiming to boot the ball away.

Than again, the exact opposite could be happening... either way, they all look like they are enjoying a pleasantly controlled game...

No wild shots here, for now...

Nice pictorial of the game...

So, a 200mm lens, with a doubler is the lens of choice today?

It's on my wish list...

The shots look great! Very crisp. What C.Fns are you using and are you selecting a point for auto focus? I am having alittle trouble getting as sharp and crisp as yours with soccer and football. Thanks

I don't hate macs or OSX, I hate people and statements that portray them as better than anything else. Macs are A solution, not THE solution. Get a good desktop i7 with Windows 7 and come tell me that sucks for photo or video editing.

Thanks for the comments, foucus point is center point only, AI Servo, C.Fn 4 is set to 2 but for soccer I seldom use it. All other C.Fns are standard.

Thanks for looking,
Pete

I will not have a chance to get indoors with it for a few more weeks, but can not wait. B-Ball season about to get underway. It would be great for volleyball to get some good shutter speeds. Looking forward to some gymnastics later this year as well.

Thanks for looking,
Pete

Thanks, You use less C.fns than I tried. Sometimes simpler is better. I will try your settings tomorrow.....keep up the great work.
