Hi All,

This is the same owl us Ottawa boys have been posting lately. This pisture was shot at 6:30pm tonight. I was walking in "Their" neck of the woods when I heard this one calling...not your usual Hooting call but more of a heery cry....as I followed the sound...it got louder and heerier...and finally located him eating a bird and in between Gulps, he would let out a cry. I scouted visualy around and sure enough found it's brother/sister very nearby.

Always a joy to see and watch wild owls!

Very nice! I envy you, I haven't had the time to scour the woods here in search of owls, but I will soon. Thanks for sharing.

Always nice to catch them with their dinner:D . Very nicely done. What type of bird did it have ,,,gull?

What ISO is this Marc? I had to shoot at 1000 with flash to catch a Sharpshinned this morning in the woods.

Now you're pissing me off! Quit hogging all the Great Horned Owl shots. It's bad enough that you get outstanding shots of the owl in a great environment, now you go and photograph it with a kill. Come on man, leave me with a chance at a stunner like yours.:) Great work Marc!

Dang! I saw you chimping back at the car while I was driving away. Just before that I took a walk to that "kite" area in the woods and saw nothing. This must have happened at another spot then.

What a fine catch. Nice shooting because the lighting at the time and for that hour of the day is not very good. But you exposed it nicely. Just wondering how long you spent watching this? Still trying to make out what bird it is dining on.

Hi Garry,

Most of my shots were taken at ISO800, 500mm, F4, 1/50-1/60 with in-camera el-cheapo flasho....

Need a descent flash!

And yes, I think it might of been a gull...wasn't much left when i got to him....
