just ordered the 70-200 f4L

its a weird choice for me and in the end it was a toss-up between this and the 17-40L neither of which actually suit my shooting style (live music) because of the small apertures but i wanted to try an L and give my kitbag a bit of variety.

i did consider getting the 85 f1.8 or the 200 f2.8 L instead but i dont know how useful the focal lengths will be just yet. so i got the 70-200 f4L as i know its capable of taking lovely shots as shown in the example gallery on here and it will let me test the focal range so i can see if its worth upgrading to either the longer primes (85, 135, 200) or the f2.8 zoom. both choices that carry a significant prike hike.

i put in the order with kerso last night so it should be with me by the end of next week hoping so i'll be sure to post up some long range duck shots :D

Yep, it's good to mix and match colours in a camera bag - black, white, red stripe...

We expect a duck shot when you get it, or even better a shot of the box it came in :-)

70-200 f/4 is an excellent lens for outside. I replaced it with the f/2.8 IS only because I regularly take pictures inside. Congrats with your new gear & be sure to upload a few good pics for us!

You should be fine with it as long as the light where you shoot is good. It isn't very good in low light like you might find at indoor concerts, though. I use fast primes for low light shooting.

this is most likely what i'll end up doing but i dont know how useful the 70-200 range will be for me. i'll get some use from this lens and if its worth the extra i'll trade up to the f2.8 non-is instead.
