Ok hear me out. I have a suggestion. A rather large one.

I was thinking how cool would it be if people from a certain city, or location, that have good knowledge of the area created a google earth map of that location/city with pushpins explaining the types of shots that can be had at that location? Would that be cool?

So we can just post in here, in the title box, City or location, and you post the map in that post. How cool would that be, if people did all major cities across the country and world! It would elimate the need for threads; "Coming to Phoenix, what to take pictures of??"

You can get google earth here;
http://earth.google.com/download-earth.html (external link)

It's extremely useful anyhow since you can spot locations for geographical/architechtural photography. I'll post the first one. Kmz is the file extension for google earth maps.

More to come later

Edit: Link works now.

This is a good idea. I set one up on a car forum I am on using www.frappr.com (external link). We have markers for the members and other parkers for locations of fun car things like race tracks and other common car gathering places.

I will work on some of my favorite spots in the Los Angeles area and upload them soon. I'm sure there are other SoCal folks who will add too.

Ha, nobody posted forever in it, so i was starting to think maybe it wasn't such a hot idea. But it certainly has potential for out of towners.

Pity you can't link a GPS device into the camera for next generation EXif

Google Earth KMZ file: New England Waterfalls - 50+ waterfalls that are easily accessible.

If you're interested in waterfalls in New England, here's a couple sites dedicated to them:

Waterfalls Of The Northeast (external link)

And two books:
New England Waterfalls: A Guide to More Than 200 Cascades and Waterfalls (external link)

I updated my Boston Photo Spots above. 59 spots, mine & mumbles combined, and a few edited out. I've updated most with links to external sites.

Anyone know how to embed a photo inside a Google Earth location so the picture shows in the pop-up?

Have you looked at my post above about Karrawatha Forrest? Check it out and see if this is what you are looking for, the place marks will bring up a thumbnail of the photo.

I have a special KMZ installed that points out every coordinate on wikipedia and takes you to the wikipedia page when clicked. It slows google earth down incredibly :p
