I was doing some passport photos for myself and seeing as I had everything set up I thought I'd have a go at a self portrait.

Would appreciate some C&C please as I'm not very experienced in this field.

I don't have any specialised lighting as most of my pics are landscape and even the flash was just the one off my camera so it really is an experiment. Even the backdrop was just a bed sheet gaffer taped to the wall. I used a custom white balance and added the sepia effect in the RAW image. The only PP done was to remove some unsightly shadows caused as a limitation of the poor lighting. I also used the Orange filter effect on the monochrome settings which seemed to bring up the skin tones a little.

No back light, I have three small halogen spot lights on the wall which I used to try and light the general area. used a white sheet to get a custom white balance with the flash and then took the shot.

The sunglasses were just a bit of fun really.. I have some other shots without them (for the passport photos).

Thanks for the comments. I'm really new in this area (portraiture). I am going to a studio in a couple of weeks to have a go at some proper stuff with decent lighting etc.

You know what, I thought that myself.

Perhaps I could flog it to Tony & Guy's... thing is I cut my own hair. :)

Please no C&C on the haircut though... lol

Considering the complete lack of decent lighting, no use of reflectors etc.. I'm quite happy with the overal result.

I think it turned out well. Post processing was good. Necklace and sunglasses show some personality. One thing, that little white spot from the flash in the left lens of your glasses is bothering me for some reason. My eye keeps going to it. I wonder what it would look like without it?

I already cleaned up the reflections in the sunglasses as they were picking up all kinds of stuff including my laptop screen which I was using to remote fire the camera.

I left in that flash reflection for effect but here's a version now without it.

Which do you think is better?
