It was time to get this in the open, I think.

1. Do you own a 24-70L?
Not anymore.
2. How long have you owned it? 1 mo., about 6 mos., about 1 year, or longer?
I owned one for about 6 months.
3. Were you completely satisfied with it the day you got it? If not, what was the problem?
No. Focusing issues.
4. If you were not satisfied, what did you do? Return it? Send it for adjustment or repair? Work with it?
Sent back first copy, had to send back second for same issue. Third copy was tolerable but not up the standards that the lens should have been at. Got it calibrated and sold it for a 17-55 (which was a gem since day 1.)
5. If you did have it adjusted, how does it work now?
It worked fine after calibration and three copies.
6. If you had issues with it at first, do you think it was "user problems" more than the lens itself?
No. Was definitely the lens(es).
I hope this will clear up some of the threads that have been around lately about this lens.

Several replies so far. I should ask Canon how many of these lenses they've sold over the years? That should be interesting to see which lenses are most popular.

Hi SuzyView,

Had issues, got repaired, have days where I wonder but it does come down to keeping it steady. I become sloppy after shooting with the 70-200mm IS ;)

Will never sell. Wish it came with IS but hey that would be like using a calculator ;)

I'm afraid this lens would be even heavier and bigger, if that were possible, if it was IS.

1 - No
2 - I had mine for one day
3 - No
4 - It was a used lens and defective. Front focus from 24-50, perfect from 50-70. I sent it in to Canon for repair. According to them it ended up being irrepairable and I opted for a refund.
5 - N/A
6 - I think it was a problem with the lens, as I tested it carefully and Canon confirmed it's problem. Whether or not it was defective to begin with or as a result of the previous owner's use, I don't know.

I think that this lens gets much bad press from end user errors.
