It was nice on the 20D; it's incredible on the 5D.

Front focus from 24-50, perfect from 50-70. I sent it in to Canon for repair. According to them it ended up being irrepairable and I opted for a refund. 5 - N/A 6 - I think it was a problem with the lens, as I tested it carefully and Canon confirmed it's problem. Whether or not it was defective to begin with or as a result of the previous owner's use, I don't know. This sucks as mine does the exact thing but back focuses from 24-50. Do you own a 24-70L? Yes 2. How long have you owned it? 1 mo., about 6 mos., about 1 year, or longer? 3 years 3. Were you completely satisfied with it the day you got it? If not, what was the problem? No. It was soft wide open. The timing for buying it was to shoot my daughter's high school play - paractices, dress rehearsals, and performances, and shutter speeds were too slow at anything that was sharp. 4. If you were not satisfied, what did you do? Return it? Send it for adjustment or repair? Work with it? Bought the 35mm f2, 50mm f1.4, and 85mm f1.8. Any of them were sharper at 2.8 (and wider) than the 24-70 L. 5. If you did have it adjusted, how does it work now? 6. If you had issues with it at first, do you think it was "user problems" more than the lens itself? I learned to live with the softness by stopping it down and raising the ISO, but I really never got over the weight (a brick) and the loss of use of the built-in flash on my Drebel due to its size. It became my winter only (indoor plays, concerts, etc) walkaround lens once I got the 20D and the EF-S 17-85 IS. Now I have the EF-S 17-55 f2.8 IS, and since I got the 1D MKII N, I needed a walkaround lens for it, so that is where it lives most of the time. If I didn't already have it, and I tried it out, I don't think I would buy it - I would live without a walkaround zoom for the 1D2N. I hope this will clear up some of the threads that have been around lately about this lens. Have Fun, Rick
